"...I spoke you together & then back apart."

I've decided to stop posting poems on here, for a couple of reasons: 1. Some journals won't accept submissions of any work that's been posted online (even personal blogs). 2. Every time I post something, I end up revising it into a completely different poem, and the poem that remains on here just appears as a smear on the screen.

So. That means this will be dedicated to fashion, food, writing processes, personal essays, brain clippings, perhaps the occasional fragment of a poem, and whatever else I feel like sharing.

I've been wearing leggings a lot lately:

First day back

My first day back teaching actually went really well. :) All of my students seem friendly. How's everyone else's new semester (for those of you still in school)?

We see the skin peel behind your ears

Back in good ol' Bowling Green. I had a mini meltdown last night because I missed my family and friends in Kent so much (on top of stressing about school stuff, particularly a bit of a tiff I had with the department of the General Studies Writing program). But I woke up this morning feeling a lot better and uber productive!

I visited a farm today that sells local eggs (although it's not so much a farm as a husband and wife with a chicken coop in their backyard). The couple is really nice and the chickens are treated well. Plus, a dozen eggs are only $1.50! I'll definitely be going back.

Dennis and I made some good mashed potatoes and veggies pre-winter break at my apartment.
Sheet o' veggies

And we also got some photos together. :)

I wore this to a small gathering with friends last night after I got back to BG. I'm getting over a cold so I wanted to wear something slouchy/comfortable.

1-4-12

Winter break is quickly coming to an end (much to my unhappiness). I wouldn't mind going back to school if I didn't have to teach. Unfortunately, I've come to dread it, which makes me want to half-ass all of my lesson plans, which isn't fair to my students, which makes me dread it even more. Maybe I just need a more positive attitude about the whole thing.

I've basically been spending break making really good food (all kinds of soups/stews/chilis, mini vegan pizzas, giant omelettes, etc.), watching Rocko's Modern Life, reading a little, planning for my class next semester, and sleeping way too much. But, I did discover today that I'm actually quasi-happy with 30 of my poems! A step away from my usual Well I guess I might like one of them (which I'll hate in a week). Grad school may be beneficial after all.

How's everyone else's break? Relaxing I hope?

P.S. Some inspiration photos:

I had to. I was obsessed with everything she wore in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

I've been obsessed with turbans, giant scarves and capes lately. <3

Also, Nordic print.

And long skirts.

I would probably never wear anything from this outfit (except for the hair color), but I love it!
