Also, if you're looking for more fiction goodies, this story (as well as most on this website) is wonderfully devastating: After the Fall
Along with reading fiction, I also started writing what will probably be a piece of short, short fiction. I'm really looking forward to where it's going, and I'm especially excited since I haven't written fiction in about a year now. I hope I can achieve what I want to with it. After reading a few short stories by Seth Fried in the point of view of "we" as well as gaining inspiration from this blog, I decided to tackle the "we" perspective. I gotta say, I'm loving it so far. It doesn't have the narcissistic self-referential feel of first person yet it feels more intimate than third person. And by writing through my own personal prescribed "we," I'm able to skirt around that preachy, too-global tone. Maybe I'll post the story after I take it through a few drafts.
On another note, I had a potluck over the weekend that I think went pretty well. And although I didn't get any photos at the potluck, I luckily had enough ingredients left over in order to make the same mini pizzas a couple days later! Not to sing my own praises but they were pretty damn delicious.
Sweet onion flatbread, marinara sauce, Daiya mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, red onions, tomatoes, kalamata olives
I've also been on a Billie Holiday kick today. What a voice.
